AFTER proving a big draw for audiences in recent years, ‘Music at Paxton’ returns to Berwickshire this week and once again there’s an eclectic mix of music.
This year’s line-up at Paxton House includes a return visit by the renowned violin and piano duo, Alina Ibragimova and Cédric Tiberghien (pictured); Schubert’s Trout Quintet performed by the Scottish Ensemble and pianist Alasdair Beatson, a solo harpsichord recital by the Iranian born Mahan Esfahani, who will also be doing a question and answer session with the audience, and the Doric and Carducci String Quartets.
Baritone William Berger and the well known pianist and broadcaster Iain Burnside will present a programme entitled ‘Insomnia’, and the programme also features local guitarist Simon Thacker in a solo recital, Arctic Winds, Pure Brass and the Sutherland Duo.
New this year is a short ‘taster’ concert by Alasdair Beatson on, Friday, July 13.
This event is free of charge and unticketed, and doors open at 5 for a 5.30pm start.
Also making an appearance at this year’s Music at Paxton are Pure Brass and Flutes en Route, who will perform on Sunday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 17, respectively.
