Cheviot Youth, a local charity for children and young people is opening a Saturday Community Café at The Planet, next door to the Borders Ice Rink, in Kelso this Saturday, March 11, at 10.30am.

The youth organisation holds weekly drop-in sessions and is supported by agencies and voluntary groups such as the Cyrenians Fareshare programme and the Fair Food Transformation Fund.

Cheviot Youth’s Community Café will initially concentrate on offering a wide range of snacks and light meals for under £2 while gradually developing other parts of its food initiative remit. The hope is to expand over the next year to provide cheap, nutritious and healthy food to children and young people during the school week and is ideally placed for when the new high school opens.
