In place of the annual SWRI Rural Ramble, women (and a few men) from all over Berwickshire came together to participate in "Women Walk the World for ACWW" this took place in the form of a choice of three walk, short, medium and long.

In place of their usual SWRI rural ramble this year the Berwickshire ladies took part instead in the ‘Women Walk the World’ for ACWW - well the walk wasn’t actually around the world it was restricted more to walking around Ayton!

There was a choice of three walks, short, medium and long, and the ladies, gentlemen and dogs that took part could chose their own distance.

Each walker donated £5 and combined with a collection box from Ayton SWRI Institute a magnificent £317.50 will go to ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World), a group that connects and supports women and communities worldwide.

The organisation represents nine million women through its 450 societies in over 70 countries, who work together to improve the quality of life for people through: relief of poverty; relief of sickness and the protection and preservation of health; and the advancement of education.

Berwickshire Federation SWRI would like to thank everyone who contributed, donated and supported their efforts, plus Ayton SWRI for a warm welcome and a splendid afternoon tea - a reward for all their efforts.
