There was a large police presence in Eyemouth yesterday after a man was found in the back of an HGV lorry when it was opened up at Eyemouth Freezers’ premises.
A spokesperson for Eyemouth Freezers said: “We received a delivery of equipment on behalf of a contractor and when the wagon driver got out and opened up the back he found a stowaway. He quickly closed it again and we rang the police.
“I believe the lorry came from Belgium and it came across to the UK at Calais.”
A large contingent of police travelled to Eyemouth and the area was cordoned off.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in the Scottish Borders attended at a business premises in Eyemouth on Wednesday, March 22, after a 33-year-old man was found within the rear of a HGV.
