The Rotary Club of Duns is organising a Diamond Jubilee Party in The Market Square on Monday, June 4.
The idea is to have a big street party with the Duns Pipe Band, a disco, a mystery band, Slaters Fun Fair, a Treasure Hunt for juniors around the Square and a Quiz.
It is also hoped to organise it a ‘Duns Has Got Talent’ slot when 12 locals will compete for a cash prize for the most talented act.
Duns Rotarian Andrew Lester said: “The streets will be closed off, the lights will be on, the pipes skirling, the music pumping and the Square will be jumpin’.
“I understand that we will be one of the few Diamond Jubilee Street Parties in the Borders - particularly on the Monday. We are holding it then as we do not wish to clash with the Jim Clark Rally.
“The event is free although we will be collecting for the Margaret Kerr Unit at the BGH.
“The street parties in Duns are always a great success with a wonderful party atmosphere. This is a family event and we will be asking the public to come out in numbers and enjoy an event which will celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years on the throne. A remarkable achievement.”
Further details will be announced soon.
