BERWICKSHIRE hall volunteers and committee members have the opportunity to get together this Saturday and share information and find out how things are done in other areas of Berwickshire.
BAVS and the Berwickshire Federation of Village Halls are organising a FREE informal event on Saturday, November 19, at Gavinton Village Hall between 10am and 3pm, (light lunch and refreshments included).
The federation brings together the 24 rural village and community halls in Berwickshire, and provides them with: a local network of individuals active in their communities; a focal point for consultation and action on issues of common concern; information on events and funding of interest to halls; administration of an annual support grant scheme and emergency repair fund for member halls; and an information handbook and regular news to help support groups with the running of their hall.
The event is open to anyone who is either currently involved as a volunteer in their local village hall or community centre, or anyone who is interested in becoming more involved in the future.
Topics covered on the day will include; hall activities and user groups (what is your hall used for?); how to attract volunteers and committee members; ways to fund raise and financial advice. There will also be a question and answer session covering health and safety, licensing, risk assessment and other related key issues.
Please telephone the BAVS office on 01361 883137 before noon on Friday, November 18 to confirm your attendance.
