The Borders is the subject of a weather warning, with snow expected tomorrow (Friday, April 29) in between spells of sleet and rain.

A depression is expected to move eastwards across parts of Northern England tonight (Thursday), which will bring cold air in its wake, causing showery outbreaks of rain to turn to snow, principally on hills but also to low levels at times.

The Met Office today warned: “An area of rain, sleet and snow will come southeastwards into the area later on Thursday lasting into Friday morning. “Accumulations of 5-10cm are likely above 200-300m, with locally 2-4cm to around 100m.”

The warning continued: “Please be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions and disruption to transport.”
