A group of youngsters from 1st Flodden B-P Scout Group have took part in an incredible expedition to Lesotho.

The scouts spent time in South Africa before going on to Lesotho, one of the world’s most impoverished nations, where they carried out community development work.

Group Scout leader Nick Allen said: “Despite the poverty that had been apparent in much of South Africa, it did not prepare anyone for crossing the border into this landlocked country where most of the population live in traditional African huts and have no running water or electricity.”

The scouts removed silt which was blocking the water supply from a mini reservoir as well as preparing ground and planting trees to improve soil nutrients and provide food.
