EARLIER this week, Scottish Borders Council took part part in a 24-hour Twitter event which saw local authorities tweet about the services they provide.
The event, called ‘What We Do’, was designed to raise awareness about the huge range of services provided by councils to people across the country and took place from noon on Tuesday to noon on Wednesday.
SBC has recently set up its own Twitter feed @scotborders, which will be used to inform residents about its services.
Councillor David Parker, leader of SBC, said: “We were delighted to take part in the national event which I am sure will give many people across Scotland a valuable insight into the wide range of services councils provide.
“There is no doubt that social media channels are rapidly becoming important communication tools, particularly during severe weather and emergencies.
“We feel the event was an ideal opportunity for us to evaluate how it can be used effectively in the Borders to engage with our residents.”
