PAXTON dancer Daniel Clelland has earned a place with the English Youth Ballet for a new production of Swan Lake in Newcastle next month.
The 12-year-old will spend his Easter holidays being put through a gruelling training programme ahead of the shows at Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre on April 16-17.
The production will feature a large cast of up to 100 young talented dancers, with Daniel playing the parts of a Spanish boy and a courtier.
It will not be a new experience, however, as he performed at the same venue last year in the English Youth Ballet’s production of Coppelia.
Proud mum Julie said: “Daniel had to get through a very tough audition which lasted over an hour and also had to audition in the 12/18 age range putting him up against a lot of older dancers. He has a good idea of what is ahead of him after last year where he had a fantastic time and gained invaluable experience.”
