Police have urged businesses in East Lothian to be vigilant for an ongoing fraud known as ‘ringing the changes’.

Officers received a report of the scam at Dunbar’s High Street post office last Thursday, November 5, when two men asked for money to be changed into a different currency.

The couple then intentionally used distraction tactics to defraud the shop of more than 500 Euros.

Other businesses in the area are now being asked to remain alert and report any similar instances to come forward.

The pair are described as being between 30 and 40 and of Eastern European appearance. One was around 5ft 7ins tall with a stocky build and black hair, wearing a black T-shirt and black jacket.

The other was of a similar build and also wearing black or dark clothing, but had facial hair.
