Amateur photographer Richard Renton, from Duns, was “over the moon” after seeing his entry for this year’s Countryfile calendar competition appear on national TV last Sunday.

Richard’s photo of a white tail eagle in a stormy sky was one of 3,000 photos selected for the final judging out of a total of 57,000 entries and was held up by presenter John Craven and discussed by judges Chris Packham and Jo Brand.

Richard said: “I took the photo in Mull in June whilst on holiday with five other members from Duns Camera Club.

“Unfortunately my image didn’t make it into the final 12 but to see it on TV was great. Hopefully I will have better luck next time.”
