AFTER moving to Berwickshire just a few days earler, Reverand Andrew Haddow was thrown in at the deep end on Sunday, giving his first services as the new Minister for Coldingham, St Abbs and Eyemouth.
The 34-year-old arrived in Eyemouth with his wife Carrie and sons Stuart and Cameron to take up his first ever ministerial position in the church, having trained in Edinburgh and completed a 15 month placement at St John’s, Dalkeith.
“I’d been through a list of vacant charges and saw Eyemouth was on it and visiting a town I got a real feel for the place,” he said.
“It’s like this is where God wanted us to be and it just feels right. I’m very excited to be taking over and keen to get involved in the community.
“With a young family myself one of my biggest aims is to make my services and the church as family-friendly as possible.
“I want the church to be a place where people will feel welcome. The Christian faith has real relevance to everyone; I wouldn’t be in religion if I didn’t believe that.”
Andrew has taken up his new charge at one of the busiest times for the church but is looking forward to what Christmas will bring.
“I’ll be doing two services every week, one at Coldingham Priory and one in Eyemouth Parish Church. “Christmas is probably the most hectic time to be a minister but at least song choices are easy!” he joked.
