Members of the Whiteadder Angling Association are looking forward to a new trout fishing season following the opening of the river.
This year the association have made a number of improvements for anglers on their stretch, including access works at the likes of Cumledge and Ellemford, as well as new signage along the river to remind anglers to buy a permit and abide by the riverside rules.
The Whiteadder Angling Association is keen to encourage young anglers to take up the sport and are this year offering permits to youngsters under 16 free of charge.
In addition the association is planning an “Introduction to Fly Fishing” day for 10 to 16-year-olds at the Whinney Loch Fishery on May 7. Places are limited and can be booked on a first come basis through the chairman. Look out for their posters providing full details of the event or check out the website at www.whiteadderanglingassociation.jigsy.com
Prospects for the year look good and the Association wishes all anglers a successful season and encourages fishers to respect the River Whiteadder countryside and to be conservation minded when out on the river.
