Project of hope and new life

SIR, - For some time now the Teens at Duns Parish Church have been collecting money.

As their money has mounted up they’ve bought a variety of presents which have been sent to people in countries where they struggle to survive. These presents include a goat, a block of latrines, some chicks, and a tap.

At the end of the summer holidays these kind hearted teens joined by the younger children at church, decided that their next project would be a big one. The target was set at £981, enough to buy three wells from Christian Aid, to be constructed in Ukambani in Kenya, where annual rains have been very poor in the last few years. They have involved the whole church in this project and amazingly the target was reached just before Christmas.

What’s more, money is still coming in and after so many people gave to the collections at the Christmas services another 2 wells have been bought. That’s five in total!

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped to smash this target and bring clean water to so many people in these small communities in Kenya. This has been a real Christmas project of hope and new life and it’s not over yet....
