Eyemouth has joined the likes of Aberdeen, Peterhead, Glasgow and Dundee on the Scottish Development International’s new Energy Ports Hub.

The Scottish Energy Ports programme is a set of linked activities supporting the growth of the energy sector in the Scottish port infrastructure.

SDI work with industry stakeholders including British Ports Association, Scottish Renewables, Oil & Gas UK, Subsea UK, Decom North Sea and others to develop this concept.

Eyemouth’s usefulness to the hub project is due to its “support services associated with a good sized working harbour, with a broad and well trained skills base and excellent facilities including boat builders, marine engineers, maintenance yard, grid and slipway facilities, refuelling, storage and chandlery.” It was also noted that cruise ships can anchor at nearby Coldingham.
