Police, SBC and NHS to run internet safety sessions

In conjunction with NHS Borders and Scottish Borders Council, next month Lothian and Borders Police are offering free information sessions for parents on keeping their children safe when they use the internet.

The ‘Lunch and Learn’ lectures will take place at locations throughout the Borders in May including Eyemouth Community Centre on Tuesday, May 15 and Southfield Community Centre, dUns the following day.

The sessions, running from 12.30-1.30pm, have been developed in line with guidance from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) centre and will be delivered by local integration officers.

A police spokesperson commented: “Raising public awareness is crucial to the success of the CEOP Centre in tackling the sexual abuse of young people and you can play a role.

“You may be wondering if what your child is doing online is safe? Of worried about the impact of cyber bullying? These events are designed to make online parenting simple and help people stay safe.”
