Reporting to Duns Community Council, Sgt Keith Dougal has said that police high visibility patrols have continued in the town to deter illegal parking and a number of drivers have been spoken to.

During July there were 59 calls to Duns about domestic assault, requests for advice regarding anti social behaviour, missing persons and ambulance requests to assist elderly who had fallen.

Incidents included: children’s bikes left in the park were found irreparably damaged; a local man attended court following an altercation with a family member; a man received head injuries after jumping from a moving trailer in an intoxicated state; a double-glazed window was smashed in Winterfield Gardens by a piece of concrete; a man was arrested in the Square during civic week; a local man has been charged with an assault in a local off-licence.
