Police investigate Dunbar assault

Police in East Lothian are appealing for information following a serious assault in West Port Dunbar, between 11.10pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, July 2.

A 48-year-old man was walking along the footpath when two men approached him. He was struck on the back of the head, fell to the ground and was attacked.

One of the suspects is described as white, aged 20-30 years old, 5ft 9-10 inches tall, with a slight build and a gaunt face. He was wearing a dark hoodie with a full-length zip and the hood up, and a grey t-shirt.

The second man was described as white, aged 20-30, with a medium build and wearing white trousers.

They were last seen heading towards the High Street. The victim was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with a serious, but non-life threatening, head injury.

Detective Constable Jordan Sharp of Dalkeith CID said: “A white vehicle may have been forced to stop due to the attack, and we would urge the driver to come forward.

“Anyone else who may have witnessed this, or who recognises the description of the suspects, is asked to get in touch.”
