Last Saturday, Dunbar club president, Thelma Band welcomed Rotarians and their guests to the club’s annual Presidents Night.

During the evening, Thelma thanked all who had been involved with the recent charity shop including the residents of Dunbar who had both donated items and bought bargains.

She confirmed that a total of £9,000 had been raised and as a result looked forward to helping a wide range of projects and good causes. Thelma completed the formalities of the evening by asking fellow members Robin Hamilton and Elaine O’Brien to read citations for two of their colleagues, namely Peter Armstrong and Richard Smeed, who were then presented with one of Rotary’s highest honours, Paul Harris Fellowships.

He said: “This award recognises the significant contribution that both Peter and Richard have made to the life of our club.” Pictured, left to right, are vice-president Judy Greenwood, past president Robin Hamilton, president Thelma Band, assistant district governor Elaine O’Brien and Paul Harris Fellow award recipients Peter Armstrong and Richard Smeed.
