Passengers unhappy about 253 changes

Perryman’s buses operation’s director has agreed to meet East Lothian residents unhappy about recent changes to the 253 Berwick-Edinburgh service.

East Lammermuir Community Council councillor Elisabeth Wilson said: “The main problem with the new timetable is the decision by Perryman’s to cut out the Innerwick loop which goes round Thurston Manor, Innerwick and Crowhill for buses leaving Dunbar at 4.10pm and 6.20pm on weekdays.

“Instead, the bus stops at the lay-by near Torness.”

Other changes affect weekday travel to and from Berwick. Passengers can get to Berwick earlier, but the last return journey calling in at Innerwick is the 2.15pm from Berwick, with the following two buses leaving Berwick bypassing the village.

There are no direct services at all to Berwick on Saturdays.

Residents have a number of proposals to put to Perryman’s that would resolve many of the issues, including increasing the type-size of timetables.

Perryman’s confirmed it had been contaced by Dr Wilson and is happy to listen to his proposals and, while not able to give any guarantees, it will make any viable changes.
