The Fishermen’s Mission hosted a 90th birthday party for the Queen at the Hippodrome, Eyemouth, on Sunday to coincide with the street party on the Mall and parties across the country.

People from Seahouses to Musselburgh turned up at the former mission premises at Eyemouth harbour, including Eyemouth herring queen Roma Peakman and her attendants, and music was supplied by acoustic band Trio.

“Queen Elizabeth II is the Fishermen’s Mission patron, and I decided to hold a lunch to say thank you to Mission supporters,” said Claire McIntosh, mission area officer for south east Scotland.

“It was a wonderful afternoon, and everyone enjoyed themselves. We toasted her majesty at 3pm.”

Despite no longer having premises in Eyemouth, the Fishermen’s Mission still has a strong presence in the fishing port, and Claire, who covers an area from East Lothian to Seahouses, hopes to have office premises there soon.
