The itinerary for the Jim Clark Remembrance Weekend over May 10 and 11 has been finalised. The event sees Club Lotus, based in Norfolk, pay tribute to the Scottish Borders’ Formula 1 legend, starting on Saturday, May 10 with a display of classic Lotus cars outside Duns’ Jim Clark rooms from 11.30am.
The refurbished and extended Rooms will then be officially opened at noon, before cars set off on a scenic run around the county between 2-2.30pm. In the evening, there will be a club dinner at the Chirnside Hall Hotel at 7pm. This will be attended by Doug Niven, Jim’s cousin, who will share details of the Jim Clark Trust’s activities. On the Sunday, the cars leave Duns in convoy for the drive to Chirnside Cross. In Chirnside club members will lay a commemorative wreath at Clark’s grave, at 12.45pm, leaving to return to Duns at 2pm. As places for the dinner (£28 for three courses and coffee) are limited, advance booking is advisable, although people are welcome tom join the group later in the lounge for coffee and chat.
