NHS Borders has successfully achieved the Investing in Volunteers Award.
The Award was presented to NHS Borders by George Thompson, chief executive of Volunteer Development Scotland, at The Future of Volunteering in our Mutual NHS Scotland event.
Investing in Volunteers is the UK Quality Standard that demonstrates NHS Borders commitment to supporting and valuing volunteers.
A local event is planed for January 13, 2011, to celebrate the contribution of volunteers and the achievement of the Award.
Mary Wilson, chairman of NHS Borders said: “Volunteering enhances the services we provide.
“There are benefits for our patients, their families and helps build stronger communities.
“The Borders Health Board is delighted to achieve the Investing in Volunteers Award and would like to thank the significant contribution volunteers make to the successes of NHS Borders”.
