ST ABBS residents turned out in force to vote in the St Abbs Community Council election last week despite the cold November weather.
With a turnout of 36% to vote for the nine candidates nominated for the seven available seats, the St Abbs election was the second contested community council election to be held in eastern Berwickshire in three months.
Each voter was allowed a maximum of seven votes and a total of 313 votes were cast, resulting in the following candidates being elected: Lynda Brady, Ann Collin, Alastair Crowe, Helen Crowe, Barbara Watson, Jim Struthers, and Margaret Wilson.
The first meeting of the new St Abbs Community Council will take place on Wednesday, December 12, at 6pm in the Ebba Centre, when the main items on the agenda will be the election of office bearers.
All community council meetings are open to the public who are encouraged to go along and make the community council aware of any issues they may have.
