The latest book in the series ‘Scottish Main Lines’ focuses on the railway between Berwick and Drem, as well as the Eyemouth and North Berwick branch lines.
Compiled by Roger Darseley and Dennis Lovett tracks the history of the line from the formation of the North British Railway Company in 1842 through more than a century, culminating in the modernisation of the line in the 1960s when the number of stations used in Berwickshire was drastically reduced.
Lavishly illustrated with over 100 photographs, the book takes the reader back to the 1890s, when fish vans from Eyemouth were put on the train at Burnmouth, and Berwick station looked more like a castle.
The book is published in hardback on August 24, priced £17.95.
