Borders MSP John Lamont held his 1,000th advice surgery as MSP for Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire with a pledge to continue as Scotland’s ‘most accessible MSP.’ On Friday, August 12 , John’s advice surgery at Foulden Village Hall was his 1000th - and he is thought to be the first MSP to have held so many advice surgeries.

John said: “As a Member of the Scottish Parliament, my number one priority has always been the Borders, which is why I make sure I spend as much time as possible in my constituency.

“The 1,000th milestone was important to me because surgeries give constituents who might find it difficult to travel to my office in Hawick the chance to meet me face to face.

“I’ve used my 1,000th surgery to pledge to my constituents to continue this open and accessible approach to politics. I continue to be available to my constituents at my Hawick office, at my regular surgeries, on the phone or via email.

“I take pride in the fact that I will endeavour to assist local residents with whatever the concern, problem or issue might be. As ever, I will always put local people before party politics.”
