Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after Eyemouth crash

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital by air ambulance following a crash near Eyemouth on Wednesday afternoon, March 8.

The accident happened around 3pm when a white Mercedes Sprinter camper van and a black Yamaha MT motorcycle were involved in a collision on the A1107 School Road, between the A1 and Eyemouth.

Great Northern Air Ambulance Service was called to assist Scottish Ambulance Service and the paramedic and doctor crew treated the 30 year old man on scene before flying him to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The casualty’s condition was described as ‘serious’ with leg and possible chest and pelvic injuries and when he arrived at hospital after a 20 minute flight he was said to be stable. His condition remains serious.

The road was closed for three hours as initial police investigations were undertaken.

Inspector Richard Latto of Lothians and Scottish Borders’ Road Policing Unit said: “This was a serious collision and we are eager to speak to anyone who may have information.

“I would ask anyone who was on the A1107 near to Eyemouth around 3pm on Wednesday, March 8, and witnessed this collision, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
