Lothian and Borders Police are keen to advise members of the public to take care of their valuables when at work or other public places following three thefts of mobile phones in the region.
On Wednesday, May 16, a number of phones were stolen from hair and beauty salons in Hawick, Jedburgh and Kelso.
A police spokesperson said: “People naturally want to have their mobile phones nearby when at work and often leave them on counters, desks or tables.
“This might not be a problem in many work places, however, opportunist thieves do go into shops and other public places looking for phones and valuables to steal.
“While crime in our area remains low we cannot become complacent and would encourage everyone to ensure that all their valuables are kept safe at all times.”
The thefts follow warnings made by the police earlier in the month about travelling criminals entering the Borders.
