Seashells Nursery in Eyemouth has been working with local businesses Giacopazzi’s and Pocketful Kids on their jubilee celebrations.
In the build-up to the nursery’s special jubilee garden party, Giacopazzi’s set up a competition for the children to design their own jubilee-inspired ice cream sundae using the colours red, white and blue.
Kerry Waddell and Sophie McNeil from Pocketful Kids set up a crafty way to design the sundaes, using paper plates, glueing, colouring and glitter.
Kerry said: “We are really proud to have been asked to be involved and work together as a community.”
The competition was judged by Peter Giacopazzi and Bev White from Giacopazzi’s, who said it was extremely difficult to choose a winner from all the great and tasty designs.
The winning design was that of Maya Craig, who chose strawberry, bubblegum and blue moon ice cream flavours topped with cream, strawberry sauce and gold sprinkles.
Maya was able to help Peter create her sundae, and then enjoyed eating it and sharing it with her mum. The other children from Seashells were all given an ice cream with sprinkles for entering.
Seashells Nursery would like to thank both Giacopazzi’s and Pocketful Kids for what was a great experience for the children.
Lindsay Lough, manager of Seashells Nursery, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity which all the children loved.
“It’s great to come together like this and show our community spirit.
“We must extend a big thank you to all those involved in any way.”
Look out for the winning sundae in Giacopazzi’s over the jubilee weekend - it will be available to buy along with a special jubilee neapolitan ice cream.
