Last Saturday saw Duns Golf Club celebrate another 1st in its 119 year history.
The marriage and reception of Stephen Sword and Angela Falshaw in the clubhouse heralded another milestone in the history of the club. Whilst wedding receptions have been held in the club before, this was the first time that a marriage had been undertaken within the clubhouse.
Surrounded by family and friends the happy couple took their vows and signed the register of marriage. This was followed by the wedding buffet supplied by Wellrig Catering, the Golf Clubs catering arm. Moira and her team certainly did Stephen and Angela proud with a mouthwatering selection of hot and cold food.
The council of the club wish Mr and Mrs Sword good fortune for the future.
Besides the wedding on the Saturday the club also catered for two golfing parties, who were mightily impressed with Duns Golf Club, “The Beauty of the Borders” and its scenic views, impressive layout and well maintained course. As one of the golfers said: “This is a course we will certainly return to – most impressive”.
Sunday saw another hectic day at Duns Golf Club with 24 teams participating in a fundraising Texas Scramble in aid of the Berwickshire High School pupils’ trip to Peru. Whilst the weather had changed from the sunshine of the Saturday to a colder, showery day, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the participants. Stories abounded of the great and not so great shots and the putts that nearly dropped.
All in all a very hectic, but rewarding weekend for Duns Golf Club. If you are looking for a venue to hold your event give Moira a call on 01361 882194.
