A Westruther Primary School pupil is flying the flag for Berwickshire after winning a Commonwealth Games design competition.

The contest launched by Youth Legacy Ambassadors for the 2014 Glasgow Games, invited primary pupils from across the Scottish Borders to create a flag which reflected the legacy themes of the event: active, connected, sustainable and flourishing.

And 11 year old Lucy Morgan-Hastie impressed the judges for the way in which her entry represented the four themes in a considered and colourful way.

A poetry competition will be launched next month.
