Priorities for the fire service are being discused.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service priorities for the Borders will form a new three-year local plan.

The service took over from regional brigades, such as Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service, in April 2014, and consultation about what the new priorities in the Borders will continue until March 14.

After all comments have been considered a final draft local plan will be submitted to Scottish Borders Council for their agreement.

Community councils across the region are being asked for their views.

Senior officer Peter Heath said: “This draft local plan contains the SFRS priorities for the Scottish Borders area with a rationale and explanation of how these were identified and will be delivered.

“We will continue to work with our community planning partners and local communities to make the most efficient use of resources and contribute towards the shared priorities and actions within the community planning partnership and community safety arrangements.

“It is our intention to hold a series of local events, including open days at our fire stations, during January and February next year where our staff will be available to discuss the local plan in more detail.
