A KIND-hearted Eyemouth couple have auctioned off a replica boat they painstakingly built to raise money for two very worthy causes.

Bobby and Helena Patterson spent months building a replica of the herring boat ‘ZULU’.

Originally found in the 1900s this type of herring boat was common in the Shetland area.

The replica was all hand-made and built by Bobby, who is a model boat enthusiast, and the sails were made by Helena.

The couple decided to put the model up for raffle for a good cause and before the raffle took place their handiwork was displayed at Eyemouth Golf Club for any interested parties to cast their eye over.

The model boat raised £440 - and thanks are due to everybody who supported this wonderful gesture.

The proceeds will be presented to the Sick Children’s Hospital in Edinburgh, and the city’s Marie Curie Hospice. Each will receive £220.

Bobby and Helena have friends and family with close connections to these two units which was why they selected these two organisations to receive the funds.

The money raised was accepted by Heather Aitchison (niece) and Chloe (great, great niece) and will be presented in Edinburgh shortly.
