Seven hard-working 1st Duns Girl Guides raised £428.59 towards their trip to Switzerland in July with a very successful cake stall in the foyer of Duns Co-op on Saturday.
The girls baked and brought their delicious produce to the stall and took turns to sell their cakes, and bag-pack for customers at the tills. They ran a tombola and a competition: “Guess How Many Miles the Girls will travel Duns - Edinburgh Airport - Basel - Adelboden, Switzerland” to win a super voucher from Hugo’s in Duns. This competition runs until the end of the month in Nairns Newsagents, Duns.
The seven Guides (Emily, Katie, Mel, Finna, Susanna, Hannah, Cheyenne) and their families would like to thank the Co-op in Duns for allowing them to raise funds, Moira at Hugo’s for her kind donation, and for all the fantastic baking, Elma Graham, The Smiddy, Cranshaws, and relatives of the girls and helpers, and a special thank you to everyone who helped and who kindly donated towards this event.
The Guides are part of a group of 41 Guides and Leaders from Duns, Coldstream, Kelso and Hawick, led by a team from Berwickshire, who are heading off to Switzerland in the summer to visit ‘Our Chalet’, one of four World Guide Centres. Fund-raising events for their trip will be continuing over the next few months including a sponsored swim.
