Ward at BGH set to re-open

BGH

BGH

The re-opening of the Department of Medicine for the Elderly (DME) Ward 10 at the Borders General is anticipated this evening.

Two bays in Ward 12 and one bay in Ward 4 remain closed due to gastro-intestinal symptoms.

The situation is being managed by NHS Borders management and frontline staff with support from the Infection Prevention and Control Team.

Visitors remain strongly discouraged at this time and the general advice is to stay away from the hospital if you or anyone in your family has experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the past 48 hours. This advice applies especially to children. If you are visiting please limit numbers to two visitors per patient.

Outpatient appointments remain unaffected.
