UFO plan factory changes

Coldstream’s fibre optic lighting company are planning changes to their Home Place premises, demolishing two small buildings and replacing them with a fully insulated factory extension.

Universal Fibre Optics Ltd have submitted plans to Scottish Borders Council for the changes at the rear of the premises, adjacent to the old primary school workshops.

The company, who design, manufacture and install fibre optic lighting, moved into the former Rutherfords building in Coldstream and as one of Berwickshire’s most successful companies are now looking to extend it to provide additional manufacturing and storage facilities.

They are the only UK based manufacturer of glass fibre for fibre optic lighting systems, and have installed lighting systems in many different sites, from the display cases which contain the Crown Jewels, Westminster Abbey Museum to the huge illuminated name sign on the exterior of the RMS Queen Mary and staging for pop star Rhianna.
