To commemorate the anniversary of the East Coast Fishing Disaster on Monday, October 14, Eyemouth Museum are holding an open day to which all visitors and locals are invited.
Where were your ancestors in 1881? The museum’s resident genealogist, Bill Stewart, can help you find out. Collect a form from the museum – you fill in what you can and staff will try and fill in the gaps.
Museum manager Lynne Bogle commented: “There has been a steady stream of genealogy enquiries over the summer but the majority have been from people who now live outwith the area.
We would love to be able to help local residents connect with their past and to deepen their connection with present day Eyemouth.”
The museum is in its final season of events before it closes over the winter but for the moment it is still open Monday–Saturday from 10 am to 4pm and Sunday from 12 noon to 4pm.
