Fourteen apprenticeships with Scottish Borders Council are being offered to candidates following a recruitment process which has been taking place over the last few weeks.
The news marks Scottish Apprenticeship Week (May 19 to 23), which the council is supporting. The exciting and challenging roles – which range from two to four years - are available to candidates aged 16 to 24 for positions in the in the council’s Neighbourhood Operations, Street Lighting and Civil Engineering teams.
Councillor Michael Cook, SBC’s executive member for HR and Corporate Improvement, said: “Scottish Apprenticeship Week aims to increase the awareness of Modern Apprenticeships and recognise the importance of these roles to the Scottish and UK economies.
“At SBC, we have been determined to use our scale and diversity to support young people and it is good to hear we shall soon be welcoming 14 individuals to our organisation. It is vital to the council’s future that young people are among our workforce and can develop their skills here and I hope to see more apprenticeship roles created in the near future.”
Modern Apprentices are employed across Scotland in a wide range of jobs.
