A six week induction to childminding course launches next month – free to people in the Borders.
The course starts on Wednesday February 19 and runs for six weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm-9pm at the Langlee CPD Centre in Galashiels.
The course is funded by Scottish Borders Council and those who complete all six sessions will be eligible for start-up grants to help with the initial cost of setting up their business.
Childminders are in huge demand at the moment; particularly since their flexible approach to childcare means they can tailor their support to meet the different needs of working parents and their children.
Raquel Lloyd-Jones, childminding development officer with the Scottish Childminding Association said: “People from all walks of life decide to become childminders as it gives them the opportunity to run their own business which fits in with their own lifestyle and commitments.
‘Childminders are professional childcare workers who work from their own homes to provide a childcare service for other people’s children in a family setting.
“They are required to be registered with the Care Inspectorate and undertake regular inspection.
‘Childminding is a demanding but rewarding career which makes a valuable contribution to the community. It’s also lots of fun!’
