The family of missing man, Paul Brown, who failed to surface during a dive off St Abbs on Sunday, have paid tribute to him.
The 49-year-old from Manchester has not been since despite the best efforts of local lifeboat crews, coastguard, RAF helicopter and local dive and fishing vessels.
Volunteers carried out searches of the sea-bed and coastline throughout Sunday and Monday but to no avail. The search was scaled down on Tuesday.
In a statement released by police, his relatives said: “The family are devastated at the situation that has arisen and are in a state of shock.
“Paul has been a loving husband and father to his two teenage daughters and was participating in his favourite pastime at the time of his disappearance.
“Paul was an experienced diver and was a frequent visitor to Scotland in pursuit of his long term hobby which has given him so much enjoyment over the years.”
