Eyemouth lifeboat station fits launch sirens

Eyemouth lifeboat.

Eyemouth lifeboat.

Eyemouth lifeboat station has been fitted with new warning sirens to alert the public that the lifeboat is about to launch.

Since the iconic maroons, with their two loud bangs, were withdrawn from service a number of years ago, the general public in the vicinity of the lifeboat station would not have known that the lifeboat had been requested to launch until they saw the boat leave the harbour.

Now, members of the public will be aware when it has been called into action, with the sirens sounding when a volunteer crew arrives at the station in response to a call.
