Eyemouth lifeboat was called out on Thursday to help the crew of a yacht who were unable to start their engine.

A call was received at 4:40pm on Thursday July 10 requesting assistance for the 33ft yacht, Sea Querk.

She had set sail from Gothenburg, Sweden, four days earlier but her four man crew had faced poor weather during the voyage.

When they tried to use the yacht’s engine following a drop in the wind, they found that they were unable to start it due to contaminated fuel.

As they weren’t able to make any headway, they requested assistance.

The Eyemouth lifeboat proceeded to their position, approximately 15 miles offshore, arriving on scene at around 5:20pm.

The RNLI crew passed over a tow and headed back to port, where they had to wait for the tide to fill before eventually bringing the yacht into the harbour at 9pm.
