Volunteers from Borders Voluntary Older People’s Services organised a big lunch – was billed as a celebration of the Commonwealth Games – at Springwood Hall in the Border Union showground in Kelso.

Some 250 elderly from all over the Scottish Borders were coached in for an afternoon of entertainment which began with the Lesley Macfarlane Highland dancers, followed by “Borders Still Game” – comedy and dancing by the Hawick Panto Group – which was finished off with The Proclaimers’ classic song, “I would walk 500 miles”.

The popular Spirit of Scotland duo completed the excellent entertainment with a host of old Scottish songs.
