Dunbar’s RNLI lifeboat volunteers battled storm force 10 winds on Sunday to go to the aid of a motor yacht with engine problems.
A worried member of the public alerted coastguards as they watched the 32 foot boat in difficulties east of Torness.
Coxswain Gary Fairbairn said: “The boat, the Asian Lady, was on passage between Whitby and McDuff when she lost power in one of the two engines and because of the horrific wind conditions was struggling to make any headway.
“We towed the boat into Torness but I wasn’t comfortable that she would be safe in the unsheltered berth there and so we took her up to Dunbar.”
The two man crew of the Asian Lady managed to get the second engine working and continued on their way on Monday.
