20 Co-Operative Group food stores in the Borders have joined together to adopt the Sick Kids Friends Foundation as their nominated charity for 2014.

The charity supports the work of Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

Colleagues at the participating stores will embark on a series of fundraising activities throughout the year, aiming to raise as much as possible for the charity.

Nic MacLennan, The Co-operative Food’s Regional Operations Manager, said: “The work the Foundation does to support the hospital makes a fantastic difference to so many families in the areas we serve.

“It’s a great cause and one that we are really looking forward to doing all we can to support during 2014. We are sure that our customers will get behind us as generously as ever, and we aim to have a lot of fun as well.”

The charity partnership will be launched this weekend (5 and 6 April) when stores will hold “bring your teddy to work” events, reflecting the comfort children get from cuddly toys when in hospital, along with a range of raffles and fundraising activities
