Towns and villages across Berwickshire have been quick to put in bids for their share of the £68,000 available for small scheme improvements in the county.
At last week’s Berwickshire Area Forum 26 schemes were approved, leaving £23,000 in the pot for the rest of the financial year. The £48,197 allocated by Scottish Borders Council for small schemes in Berwickshire has been boosted this year by an additional £20,000 to be used for quality of life schemes.
The 13 communities will see improvmeents carried out by SBC’s neighbourhood services, from floral displays to new tennis net posts.
The area around Henderson Park in Coldstream is being smartened up in time for the Commonwealth Games, Queen’s Baton Relay event there this weekend. As well as work on the park wall, improvements are also planned for the Bluebell Steps and the vennel down to them.
