Berwickshire High School students visited the Scottish Parliament to take part in a Question and Answer session with the Presiding Officer Tricia Marwick, and their local MSP John Lamont.
Senior 5 and 6 Modern Studies students made the trip to Holyrood to ask the Presiding Officer about her role, and the implications of Scotland separating from the UK.
The Q & A session was filmed by ITV and appeared on last week’s episode of Representing Border.
John Lamont said: “It was great to welcome students to the Scottish Parliament. Many of them had never visited Holyrood before, and as Modern Studies students it was a great chance for them to see first-hand how devolution in Scotland is working.
“To have the chance to quiz the Presiding Officer on her role was also a unique opportunity, and one the group enjoyed. I know Tricia Marwick was very impressed with their understanding, and the pupils undoubtedly acted as first class ambassadors for their school and the Borders. It was great to meet a group of young people who are so passionate about current affairs.”
