Coldstream has been named the Champion of Champions at the 15th annual Scotland’s Floral Gateway Awards.

The ceremony took place at Tweed Horizons in Newtown St Boswells on Tuesday 2 September, with 18 communities taking part across the Borders.

The competition consists of four categories, based on population size. The elements judged are floral presentation, cleanliness and community involvement. Points are awarded for all three and the winners are those which score the most within each category.

The Champion of Champions category was introduced in 2009 to bring an added element of competition and to ensure an opportunity for all communities which have taken the time and effort to put themselves forward. This sees the winners of the Town, Large, Small and Wee Villages categories from the previous year judged against each other the following year to determine which is the Champion of Champions.

Elsewhere, Ayton won the Small Village competition and Chirnside was third in the Large Village category. Birgham and Coldingham were ‘Highly commended’ in the Champion of Champions ranking.
