Schoolbus hits van on icy road

UNGRITTED roads are being blamed for an accident in which a schoolbus collided with an oncoming van.

The bus, run by Travelsure, was taking Berwickshire High pupils to school when it skidded into the van at the crossroads of the B6470 and the B6437, near Swinton.

Nobody was hurt in the collision, and the pupils were picked up by another Travelsure bus which ensured they got to school.

The bus suffered damage to its bumper and front lights, but was in sufficient condition to be driven back to the Travelsure depot.

A spokesperson for the company said that the minor accident would have no effect on the running of the service.
